No Charges Against Victim Who Killed Attacker

The Hennepin County Attorney says he won't file charges against a robbery victim who fatally stabbed a 17-year-old attacker in Minneapolis. County Attorney Mike Freeman called the situation tragic but state law allows people being attacked to use necessary force to protect themselves. Officials say the victim was walking home from his girlfriend's house when he was approached from behind and hit by two teens.Police found Tim Jackson early Nov. 7 with a stab wound after being called to a robbery. Freeman says the man stabbed Jackson once, left the area to call 911 and stayed to talk with police. The other 17-year-old, Andre Whirlwind Horse, has been charged felony attempted robbery and aggravated robbery.
