Warning Of Threat To UN's Geneva HQ

Swiss authorities have warned the United Nations of a possible terrorist attack against its office in Geneva, its biggest premises outside the world body's headquarters in New York, a UN statement said on Thursday. "The Swiss authorities have contacted the UN Office at Geneva (UNOG) to inform them of a possible threat against the United Nations premises in Geneva," the statement said."The attack would take place between Oct. 5 and Oct. 10. No information has been provided about the possible authors or the means to be used. No specific target has been mentioned," it said. Following the warning, security has been beefed up at the three gates of UNOG, but work is continuing as usual. The security service at UNOG said that it "is regarding this threat seriously and is taking extraordinary security measures."
