Israeli Warplanes Hit Palestinian Prime Minister's Office

An Israeli helicopter gunship fired a missile at the Gaza City office of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh early on Sunday, setting it alight, witnesses said. They said Haniyeh, a top official of the ruling Islamist militant party Hamas, was not believed to be in the office at the time. An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed the air force targeted Haniyeh's office.

Minutes later, another Israeli missile hit a Al-Arqam School in Gaza, which was founded by the late Hamas founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, witnesses said. There were no reports of casualties in either air strikes.Israel sent troops and tanks into the Gaza Strip after Palestinian gunmen snatched one of its soldiers in a cross-border raid last Sunday. Civilian infrastructure and facilities used by the Palestinian government have also be targeted in air strikes.
